UNIVERSITY OF LIBERIA

In
an effort to regularize positions, for the most part, at the
vice presidential level and in which incumbents may currently
be in an acting or interim capacity, the University of Liberia
is seeking "Professional Targets of Opportunity"
to fill the following positions.
An
interested individual should kindly send a current curriculum
vitae with a detailed letter of interest expressing the candidate's
qualifications, philosophy and experience to occupy a position
briefly described below with names of at least three references
and contact information to the Chair, Search Committee on
Targets of Opportunity, Office of the President, University
of Liberia, Capitol Hill, Monrovia, Liberia, West Africa.
1. Executive Vice President for Academic
Affairs and Provost.
The position of Executive Vice President and Provost represents
an expansion of the current position of Vice President for
Academic Affairs.
The
Executive Vice President and Provost reports to and acts for
the President of the University in his/her absence and shall
have oversight responsibility for all academic programs at
the University and their attending budgets. The incumbent
is expected to possess, at the very least, a doctoral degree
from an accredited institution with credentials for appointment
as a full tenured professor and experience in academic administration
comparable, at the very least, to the responsibilities of
a faculty dean of a college, including, but not limited to
academic program and curriculum development, management and
assessment, grants and contracts management, teaching and
research, student support services, academic resources acquisition
and management, cultivation of philanthropy, managing a sizeable
budget and number of individuals. Furthermore, the successful
candidate shall be a people's person capable of making tough
decisions and being an indispensable advisor to the President
of the University.
2.
Vice President for Administration
The Vice President for Administration reports to the President
of the University and has responsibilities for, among others,
staff personnel development and management, planning and management
of the physical plant and equipment, and day-to-day development,
maintenance and management of a conducive and supportive environment
for a learning community.
The successful candidate shall hold, at the least, a Master's
Degree, preferably a terminal doctoral degree, or its equivalent
with qualification in administration and management, and experience
in managing a large physical plant, a sizeable budget and
a large number of individuals of diverse backgrounds and experiences.
Experience in vetting bids and projecting physical developmental
needs will definitely be beneficial. The position requires
a people's person who is comfortable in making tough decisions
and serving as an indispensable advisor to the President of
the University
3.
Vice President for Finance and Fiscal Affairs
The Vice President for Finance and Fiscal Affairs reports
to the President of the University and has responsibility
for procurement and the management of ALL of the fiscal/financial
operations and investments of the University.
The
successful candidate would have earned, at the very least,
an MBA or terminal doctoral degree in financial management
or related areas with substantial experience in a combination
of financial management, banking, investment, and entrepreneurship.
Experience in managing a sizeable academic budget with financial
projection capability is a must. The successful candidate
must be a people's person capable of making very tough decisions
and being a dependable and indispensable advisor to the President
of the University of Liberia.
4.
Vice President for University Advancement
The Vice President for University Advancement reports to the
President of the University and has responsibility for university
development, including fundraising, grants and contracts,
university relations, including alumni relations, and international
collaborations.
The
successful candidate would have earned, at the least a masters
degree, preferably, a terminal doctoral degree, and have experience
in some combination of cultivation of philanthropy, institutional
fundraising, proposal writing and acquiring and implementing
grants and contracts, cultivation of alumni and alumni relations,
soliciting, attracting, and coordinating international collaborations
and relations.
The successful candidate must be a people's person capable
of making tough decisions in the interest of the mission of
the University and a dependable advisor to the President of
the University of Liberia.
5.
Executive Assistant to the President
The Executive Assistant to the President reports the President
of the University of Liberia and has responsibilities for
managing the Office of the President, including, but not limited
to the daily and projected calendar of the President, assignments
and supervision of the staff of the Office of the President;
serving as liaison between the Office of the President and
various academic programs and administrative units, and the
external community, responding appropriately to inquiries
and communications both verbally and written, researching
and preparing reports as necessary, including quarterly and
annual reports.
The
successful candidate would have earned, at the very least,
a bachelor's degree, preferably a master's degree; has got
to be amicable, yet serious; cordial, yet professional; works
independently with little oversight; takes initiative. To
this individual, "nine to five" is only a movie
